On Firday 14 February, the “MV Caledonian Isles” ferry vessel owned by the CalMac Ferries, faced rough weather conditions as it was struggling to berth at the Ardrossan harbor. Namely its crewmembers had to deal and operate under the storm Dennis’ high winds.
With storm Dennis bringing major disruptions and even fatal incidents across the UK, the ferry’s personnel faced high seas during their trials to berth at the terminal of Ardrossan.
Eventually, the vessel’s crewmembers managed to berth without any injuries reported. “All credit to the skill of our masters and one to consider for those pressing CalMac to take more risk. Safety of our passengers and crew is always our top priority” said the Managing director of CalMac Ferries, Robbie Drummond.
Speaking of hazardous weather at sea, during the severe storm that struck northern Norway several weeks ago, high winds drove the Hurtigruten cruise ferry Nordnorge hard against a pier at the port of Bodø, Nordland during berthing.
